Rooftops of Roma
Rooftops of Roma

Every off-season, I pack my bags and head to Rome, a city that has become my sanctuary for rest, rejuvenation, and inspiration. As a florist and creative, my work is rooted in beauty, and there’s no better place to reconnect with that than in the heart of Italy. From the breathtaking art and architecture to the vibrant culture and, of course, numerous glasses of wine, Rome offers an endless well of inspiration that I bring back to my designs.

Rome is a city where history and beauty converge on every street corner. Whether I’m standing in awe before the intricate ceilings of the Sistine Chapel, marveling at the grandeur of the Colosseum, or strolling through the charming piazzas, I find myself constantly inspired by the city’s artistry. The way Romans use color, texture, and light in their architecture and art influences how I approach floral design, encouraging me to think more creatively about composition and movement.

The Italian lifestyle is an art form in itself. Every cappuccino enjoyed at a café, every leisurely meal shared with friends, and every cheerful exchange with a local brings a sense of joy and connection that fuels my creativity. Italy reminds me to slow down and savor the beauty around me, a mindset that translates into the care and thoughtfulness I put into every arrangement.

Each year, I make it a point to visit different venues across Rome to explore their potential for hosting stunning destination weddings and workshops. From romantic villas to elegant rooftops, I seek out venues that not only showcase Italy’s natural beauty but also offer unique settings for unforgettable celebrations. These visits allow me to envision how my floral designs could complement and enhance these spaces, giving me a fresh perspective to bring back to my clients.

This year, I’m particularly excited to tour Hotel Russie, a luxurious oasis in the heart of Rome. Known for its lush secret garden and impeccable design, Hotel Russie offers an unparalleled blend of elegance and serenity. I can already imagine crafting dreamy ceremony backdrops and intimate reception décor that harmonize with its enchanting spaces. Additionally, I plan to visit a series of historic gardens and palazzos in and around Rome. These venues offer the perfect blend of old-world charm and lush greenery, and I can see the breathtaking ceremony arches and lush tablescapes that could transform these spaces into romantic wonderlands.

Every trip to Italy leaves a lasting imprint on my creative process. The textures, colors, and atmosphere I experience in Rome and beyond shape the designs I create for my clients back home. Whether it’s incorporating a touch of Mediterranean elegance into a bouquet or drawing inspiration from Italian Renaissance art for a dramatic centerpiece, my time in Italy enriches every aspect of my work.
