Planning a San Diego wedding in 2026? One of the biggest questions couples face early in the process is: When should I book my wedding florist?

While there’s no one size fits all answer, most couples secure their florist about 6 to 8 months in advance. In high demand areas like Southern California, earlier is often better.

As a San Diego wedding florist specializing in whimsical, artistic, and foam-free floral design, I want to share exactly what to expect when planning ahead for 2026 and how to make sure your dream flowers (and florist!) are available.

Why Booking Early Matters (Especially in SoCal)

Southern California is a year-round wedding destination. Whether you're planning a coastal celebration in La Jolla, a vineyard soirée in Temecula, or a garden wedding in Rancho Santa Fe, vendors book up quickly, especially the ones you really want.

Booking early means:

  • You get first pick of florists whose work you love

  • There's ample time to build a design plan that feels thoughtful and personal

  • You avoid the stress of last-minute scrambling when dates are already full

At Le Champagne Projects, we’re currently booking 2026 weddings and already seeing key Spring and Fall dates fill up.

Your Ideal Wedding Florist Booking Timeline

Here’s a general guideline for when to reach out:

Wedding Date

Ideal Booking Window

January–March 2026

May-July 2025

April–June 2026

August-October 2025

July–September 2026

November 2025-January 2026

October–December 2026

February-April 2026

Even if you're just starting to plan, having your florist locked in early helps with:

  • Budgeting

  • Overall design direction

  • Coordination with other vendors like your planner, photographer, or rental company

What Happens After You Book Your Florist?

When you book full-service wedding florals with us, you’re not just getting flowers. You’re getting:

  • A partner to help curate your entire visual story

  • A designer who understands your venue, light, and layout

  • An install team who knows how to build artfully without floral foam

  • Someone to guide you with flower choices that are in season, within budget, and that last in the SoCal heat

We typically like to start design conversations at least 4 to 6 months before the wedding, but booking earlier gives us room to refine and evolve your vision together. You can learn more about our Services here and about our Full Process here.
